We had our second opinion this morning. We saw the physicians assistant and he was awesome.
He listened. He asked questions. He understood.
And he prescribed Diamox without a qualm. He couldn’t quite understand why no one else was willing to prescribe it. He agreed that a pill was a logical thing to try before surgery. He also was quite willing to be guided by the results of the study – what kind of dosage and how often to take it. He spent about 30 minutes with us and was generally great. He did test the hypermobility of Em’s fingers but he did it gently and didn’t hurt her. He even praised me for being an advocate for my kid and working so hard to find answers. How great it that?
He also went ahead and ordered a tilt table test for us and we see him again in about a month. The tilt table test is presenting some issues – we just found out that Em has to be off of the ami and benedryl for 3 days. That is really frustrating since she is just starting to sleep well with them. But, the test is pretty important so I think we are going to have to deal with it.
Regardless, no matter how you look at it, today was a good day for us. We will start the diamox tonight and pray that it works and that Em tolerates it well.
God bless good doctors (and physician assistants!).
