Happy to be able to say that Em’s headache is completely gone today – a 0/10 – and she is feeling much better. Seems like increasing the medication is doing the trick, but I have no idea what precipitated the sudden change. Clearly, something was going on because her headache rapidly increased to unbearable levels again and she was incredibly lightheaded/dizzy, faint and more tachy than usual, all of which has been relieved by increasing the Diamox. Unfortunately, we are sort of flying blind since this particular manifestation of high intracranial pressure is so poorly understood but with the help of our PA, we will try to figure it out. This episode brings home the fact that the Diamox is not a cure, but is really a band-aid on a serious, ongoing issue. That being said, I am eternally grateful for that band-aid!
We were going to get the ordered bloodwork done today, but we have a snowstorm and the roads are apparently pretty nasty. So, I am staying home where we are warm and safe – it will have to wait until tomorrow or Monday. Em is not exactly broken hearted about not doing it today. 😉
